Rustic Chic: Barn-Inspired Doors

Over the past year I have come across many  images of cool, barn-inspired sliding doors.  These solid wood doors on metal tracks, fabulous in natural wood or painted finish, are a creative alternative to traditional swing closure doors.  They would also be a great option in a tight space.

High Gloss Magazine

High Gloss Magazine, a gorgeous new digital magazine, made its debut in February with a beautiful premier issue.  The magazine’s second issued was released today and is full of interior design and spring fashion inspiration. Here are a few of my favorite images from the second issue:

High Gloss Magazine: April/May 2011

Love this modern glamour look from interior designer Mary McGee.  The white and lavender create a clean yet feminine space.

High Gloss Magazine: April/May 2011

A refined, yet masculine, interior by Cathy Echols contains just the right amount of color with beautiful green wallpaper accents.  She also does a wonderful job of combining modern furniture with traditional materials, such as velvet, and accents, such as the crystal chandelier.

High Gloss Magazine: April/May 2011

Great advice for keeping it chic despite those nasty April showers.

High Gloss Magazine: April/May 2011

Beautiful interior finishes from Alpha Workshops, an organization that was founded in 1995 to improve the quality of people with HIV and AIDS.

High Gloss Magazine: April/May 2011

Definitely jealous of these closets designed by Melanie Fescatelli.

Wedding season is about to begin and High Gloss has some great advice on what to wear for any occasion.

Dream Destination: Blackberry Farm

The picturesque Blackberry Farm is located in Tennessee’s gorgeous Great Smoky Mountains. In addition to the amazing views of nature it also features fabulous design that creates a rustic, yet elegant aesthetic.  Blackberry Farm was designed by Suzanne Kasler and I love  to see that she maintains her chic design sense in a more commercial setting to create a beautiful, serene retreat.

Bold and Beautiful: Wallpaper

There are so many beautiful, bold patterned wallpapers on the market right now. Bold wallpaper can be can be fabulous in small spaces such as powder rooms or even in an entire living room, dining room, or bedroom.  If you don’t want to commit to an entire room try starting with an accent wall.

I love the organic, hand-painted feel of the wall covering from Porter Teleo, not to mention the pink, black and white color scheme.

This is so cute! I love the playful pattern with the more formal and traditional styling of the powder room.

Color of the Week: Lavender

Lavender is a very calming color that is also associated with femininity. According to its color meaning, this lovely shade of purple suggests refinement along with grace and elegance.

Designer Inspiration: Jonathan Adler

Jonathan Adler is known for his colorful and quirky 60′s inspired, Palm Beach aesthetic.  He fully believes that your home should make you happy and I love his designs because this is evident in the way he uses bright colors and creative touches that make you smile. I believe that when designing your home you should stop taking it so seriously and have some fun with it, after all, your home should be a place that makes you happy at the end of a long day.
